Circle Keepers Training

We are currently accepting applications for an upcoming 5-hour introductory training for circle keepers. Training size is limited to 8-12 people. Priority is given to board members and volunteers of Restorative Resources.

The Date will be determined by vote. Possible dates include April 23, 24, 28, 30th; May 1, 7, 14, and 15. To participate and select dates that will work for you, click on the "Participate" link in the "Poll Circle Keeper Training" box below.

Circles are an amazing and effective way for people to come together to solve problems, celebrate, grow, and build community. They are at the heart of restorative practices.

Join us for a five-hour introductory training for circle keepers. This will be an opportunity to experience what it’s like to participate in circles and to explore the practice of circle-keeping.  Some of things we will experience and discuss include:

  • Ways to open and close circles
  • How to structure circles for success
  • How to create high-quality questions that support the work of the circle
  • What a circle keeper does, and how it is different from other familiar roles
  • Ways that circles bring out the wisdom of their participants
  • How to use restorative questions in circles when working with conflicts

Fee: This training is primarily for board members and volunteers. Donations are encouraged.

Date: Your first way to participate in this circle is to use Doodle to indicate what days you are available.  We are looking for a minimum of eight participants, maximum of 12; we’ll select a date that works for as many people as possible.

Schedule: We would prefer 2 ½  hours before lunch, and 2 ½ after.

Where: The training will be at the Restorative Resources office in Santa Rosa.

Circle Keeper: The principal trainer/circle keeper will be Amos Clifford, Executive Director of Restorative Resources. The way circles work is for all participants to contribute to sharing and learning; therefore, we may find that we are all training each other.
